Disclosed is a separable model of a dwelling, such as a house, and a method of constructing the separable model of the same. In one aspect the separable model of the dwelling includes: a foundations layer representing foundations of the dwelling, wherein the foundations layer includes a foundations flange; one or more middle layers, wherein at least one of the middle layers includes a lower flange configured to complementarily engage with the foundations flange when stacked thereon to restrict sliding therebetween, wherein at least one of the middle layers includes an upper flange; and a roof layer including a roof flange which is configured to complementarily engage with the upper flange of one of the one or more middle layers when stacked thereon to restrict sliding therebetween; wherein the foundations layer, the middle layer and the roof layer are separable. In another aspect the method of constructing the separable includes generating, using a processing system, a three dimensional representation of the dwelling based on structural and architectural plans for the dwelling; and printing, using a three dimensional printer, the foundations layer, the middle layer and the roof layer of the separable model based upon the three dimensional representation of the dwelling. -2/7 -4n |
