PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon sheet which allows a gas diffusion electrode base material to have superior flooding resistance by significantly increasing gas diffusibility and drainage and to exhibit a high-power generation performance even in an operation in a high-current density region at a relatively low temperature, and which can be suitably used for a gas diffusion electrode base material superior in mechanical characteristic, electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity.SOLUTION: An embodiment of the carbon sheet of the present invention to achieve the above objective is a porous carbon sheet comprising a carbon fiber and an insulative binding material. Supposing that a surface of the carbon sheet larger in surface coverage at which the carbon fiber and the insulative binding material cover the surface of the carbon sheet is a face X2, and a surface smaller in the surface coverage is a face Y2, the difference between the face X2 and the face Y2 in the coverage is 5-20%.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
