PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article accumulation apparatus for transferring articles from a load conveyor for loading the articles to a movable article accumulation section and accumulating the articles in the movable article accumulation section by a plurality of robots, capable of ensuring high reliability and preventing the load conveyor from failing to load articles entirely.SOLUTION: An article accumulation apparatus comprises: a load conveyor 10 loading an article P; an accumulation conveyor 20 for accumulating the articles as an article group and moving in the same direction as a transport direction of the load conveyor; first and second transfer robots transferring the articles from the load conveyor to the accumulation conveyor; and a control unit controlling the two transfer robots. The second transfer robot captures each article from the load conveyor downstream of the first transfer robot and transfers the article to the accumulation conveyor downstream. The control unit controls the two transfer robots such that a ratio of the number of articles which have been transferred by the second transfer robot to the number of articles in a first article group at the start of accumulation is higher than a ratio of the number of articles which have been transferred by the second transfer robot to the number of articles in an article group at normal time.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7A
