PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method for a liquid discharge head capable of finely controlling the discharge operation of a recording liquid to continuously carry out an image formation process by controlling discharge corresponding to the temperature distribution generated based on the amount of the recording liquid discharged from the liquid discharge head during the image formation process.SOLUTION: There is provided a control method for a liquid discharge head which has a common liquid chamber 8 having an inflow port through which a recording liquid flows in, a plurality of pressure chambers 6 communicating with the common liquid chamber 8, and a plurality of nozzles 4 which are provided corresponding to the pressure chambers 6 to discharge the liquid. The method includes varying the pressure of the recording liquid in the pressure chamber 6 on the basis of printing data to discharge the recording liquid from the nozzle 4. Based on the discharge amount of the recording liquid from the nozzle 4 communicating with the common liquid chamber 8, the pressure variation in the pressure chamber 6 is controlled in response to the distance of the nozzle 4 from the inflow port.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
