PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid degradation of character quality caused by repeated copying.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus which corrects image data obtained by reading a printed matter comprises: a character area detection part for detecting a character area from the image data; a correction intensity determination part which detects the size and thickness of a character included in the character area and determines the intensity of the correction in accordance with comparison of a reference character thickness corresponding to the size of the detected character with the thickness of the detected character; and a correction processing part which executes the correction on the image data in accordance with the determined intensity.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
