Provided is an endoscope having an airtight casing for accommodating therein in an airtight state an image-capturing element and a first signal line, the endoscope being configured so that the proximal end of the first signal line and a signal relay section can be connected without providing an extra length to the first signal line. An airtight casing 10 is disposed inside the outer tube 132 of an insertion section 102, an image-capturing device 114 and a first signal line 116 are accommodated within the airtight casing 10, the distal end 10A of the airtight casing 10 is airtightly sealed by cover glass 108, and the proximal end 10B of the airtight casing 10 is airtightly sealed by a partition wall section 120. The airtight casing 10 is constituted by a first cylinder 12 and a second cylinder 14, and the second cylinder 14 is telescopically disposed within the first cylinder 12. The second cylinder 14 is advanced toward the first cylinder 12 when connecting the proximal end of the first signal line 116 and a terminal 118. |
