To reduce generation of erroneous positional information or image data to which positional information is not acquired. An image pickup device 1 has: a GPS receiving unit 115 that acquires GPS signals; a positional information acquisition unit 1022 that acquires positional information corresponding to the position where image data acquired from the GPS signals is acquired, said GPS signals having been received by the GPS receiving unit 115; an external recording medium 106 that stores the image data and metadata; and an image recording unit 1024 that records the image data and the metadata in the external recording medium 106, said image data and metadata having been stored in a RAM 103. In the cases where the GPS signals are not acquired, the positional information acquisition unit 1022 executes positional information acquisition processing for acquiring the positional information within a previously set time. In the cases where the positional information acquisition unit 1022 acquires the positional information, the image recording unit 1024 records, in the external recording medium 106, the image data stored in the RAM 103, and the metadata to which thus acquired positional information is added. |
