Configured is a control unit for an internal combustion engine, with which the air intake volume is increased and unencumbered operation of the internal combustion engine is rendered possible, while the opening timing for an intake valve is maintained, during low rotation/high load. In the present invention, a valve timing control device is configured so as to be provided with a phase adjustment mechanism for displacing, by driving, the relative rotational phase between a driving-side rotating body that rotates synchronously with a crankshaft and a driven rotating body that rotates synchronously with an intake camshaft. The configuration is such that the relative rotational phase is displaced in the advancement direction after an opening timing of an intake valve. |
