A nickel-based alloy which comprises (by weight): 7.0-11.0 % chromium, 4.0-14.0 % cobalt, 1.0-2.0 % rhenium, 5.5-11.0 % tungsten, 4.0-6.5 % aluminium, 8.0-12.0 tantalum, 0.0-0.5 % molybdenum, 0.0-0.5 % hafnium, 0.0-0.5 % niobium, 0.0-0.5 % titanium, 0.0-0.5 % vanadium, 0.0-0.1 % silicon, 0.0-0.1 % yttrium, 0.0-0.1 % lanthanum, 0.0-0.1 % cerium, 0.0-0.003 % sulphur, 0.0-0.05 % manganese, 0.0-0.05 % zirconiuim, 0.0-0.005 % boron and 0.0-0.01 % carbon, with the balance being nickel and incidental impurities. The alloy comprises 60-70 % by volume gamma prime phase and is used to form single crystal turbine blades. |
