In a waste heat recovery apparatus (6), when the load on a prime mover (3) decreases, and the thermal load in a heat exchanger (62) decreases, the rotational speed of a pump (65) and the position of a regulating valve change, and the pressure of a working fluid in the heat exchanger (62) decreases, leading to a decrease in the saturation temperature. Thus, the working fluid in the heat exchanger (62) can be efficiently vaporized, enabling waste heat to be efficiently recovered. Further, in a state in which the load on the prime mover is comparatively high, the pressure of the working fluid in the heat exchanger (62) is controlled in such a manner as to increase, leading to the saturation temperature becoming high, thereby enabling waste heat to be efficiently recovered. In the waste heat recovery apparatus (6), by controlling the pressure of the working fluid in the heat exchanger (62) in a single organic Rankine cycle, the size of the apparatus can be minimized, while enabling waste heat to be efficiently recovered by following fluctuations in the thermal load. |
