Footwear 1 for preventing or correcting toe deformation or joint displacement, where the footwear 1 covers the toes of the wearer, and has at least one toe separating means that separates at least the wearers big toe from the wearers remaining toes during use. The separating means 10 may be incorporated into the structure of the footwear (see fig 1), or may comprise a removable inner sole or insert 13 of the footwear 1 (see figs 3 9). The footwear may incorporate a plurality of toe separating means which separate various groups of toes or all of the toes of the user. The toe separating means 10 of the removable insert may comprise a plurality of toe-receiving pockets 11, 12 spaced by gaps 132, and may be lined with breathable material 130 and have raised protrusions which may massage the wearer. Alternatively, the insert 13 may be sewn to the footwear. The insert may be used with a variety of footwear. In addition the toe separating means also assist in keeping the gaps between the users toes dry and clean and alleviate foot odour and diseases. |
