A method for forming a support structure comprises the steps of forming a plurality of parallel bores and moving a tube 14 into each bore. At least one member is moved into each tube and the member connected to a stressing means to apply tension to the at least one member and in turn the tube. The method may be used to form a raft underwhich a jacked structure can be installed. The tubes mat be manufactured from steel, fibre glass or a polymer and the member may be formed from precast concrete. The stressing means may be a stressing tendon or bar. |
