[Class 142] (iv) [Also in Group IV] A hair-cloth for stiffening wearing apparel comprises a woven fabric containing natural or artificial horsehair and threads comprising plasticised thermoplastic fibres and threads of non-thermoplastic fibres, the cloth adhering to non-thermoplastic fabrics when pressed in contact therewith under suitable conditions of temperature and pressure. In one form, a weft of natural horeshair is inserted in a warp comprising alternate two ends of cotton and one end of cellulose acetate yarn, the fabric is dipped into a solution containing dimethoxy ethyl phthalate and alcohol, the treated fabric is passed through nip rollers and is then dried. The artificial horsehair may be of regerenated cellulose, a cellulose ester or ether or a synthetic resin.</p> |
