PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkali metal-sulfur secondary battery improving the coulomb efficiency, and operable at low temperature without melting a negative electrode even when the negative electrode is made of Na metal, thereby achieving high safety.SOLUTION: An alkali metal-sulfur secondary battery includes: a positive electrode containing a sulfur-based electrode active material including at least one selected from the group consisting of elemental sulfur, a metal sulfide, a metal polysulfide, and an organic sulfur compound; an electrolyte including a glyme represented by the following formula (where, R1 represents a 1-9C alkyl group or the like, and R2 represents an alkyl group, an ethyl group or the like) and an alkali metal salt while at least a part of the glyme and the alkali metal salt forms a complex; and a negative electrode as a counter electrode of the positive electrode. A mixture ratio of the alkali metal salt relative to the glyme is 0.80 or more on a molar basis. |
