PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a desalination method in which when water is desalinated by using a pair of electrodes and a bipolar membrane disposed between the pair of electrodes, an exchange capacity of the bipolar membrane can be utilized satisfactorily and it is made unnecessary that the regenerated water, that is generated, when the bipolar membrane is regenerated, and is to be recycled, is neutralized.SOLUTION: The bipolar membrane comprises a weakly-acidic cation exchange membrane and a strongly-basic anion exchange membrane or a strongly-acidic cation exchange membrane and a weakly-acidic anion exchange membrane. An ion exchange capacity of the cation exchange membrane and that of the anion exchange membrane are determined so that the relatively-smaller one becomes 90% or larger than the relatively-larger one. |
