[Problem] To provide an agent for adsorbing ruthenium from an aqueous solution in order to recover/reuse or remove the ruthenium, and a method for purifying seawater contaminated with radioactive elements and/or water or the like in which sodium ions, magnesium ions, calcium ions, chlorine ions, and the like are included, using the agent. [Solution] The above problem is solved by a ruthenium adsorbent including manganese in an oxide state. The adsorbent may further include at least one transition metal element other than manganese, preferably copper. By immersing the adsorbent in water, the adsorbent can adsorb and remove radioactive ruthenium and the like, and purify seawater and/or water or the like in which sodium ions, magnesium ions, calcium ions, chlorine ions, and the like are included. |
