PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp driving device capable of stably maintaining a protruding shape of an electrode.SOLUTION: One aspect of a discharge lamp driving device of the present invention comprises a discharge lamp driving unit which supplies driving current to a discharge lamp including a first and a second electrode, and a control unit which controls the discharge lamp driving unit. The driving current includes first driving current in which the first electrode serves as a positive electrode and second driving current in which the second electrode serves as a negative electrode. The control unit controls the discharge lamp driving unit so that the first driving current and the second driving current are alternately supplied to the discharge lamp, a frequency of the first driving current changes according to a periodic first pattern, and a frequency of the second driving current changes according to a periodic second pattern. The first and second patterns are a pattern in which a frequency of driving current increases. The period of the first pattern and the period of the second pattern deviate from each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 |
