Provided is an air purifier that allows the interference with surrounding structures to be reduced when rotated from side to side, while maintaining the effect of purifying the air in the direction in which a person is present. For this purpose, the air purifier according to the present invention comprises: an infrared sensor (55b) which detects the direction in which a person is present in the front direction of a body case (10); a drive motor which causes the infrared sensor (55b) to rotate laterally; and a rotating mechanism which laterally changes the orientation of the body case (10). The range of the rotational angle of the rotating mechanism is equal to or less than the range of the rotational angle of the infrared sensor (55b).
