The present invention relates to a method for surface-treating an article, including a respectable amount of chrome (Cr) such as tool steel and an article surface-treated by the method. According to the present invention, the surface-treating method performs a first surface treatment which ion-nitrides a surface of an article by using hydrogen and nitrogen and a second surface treatment which ion-nitrides the surface of the article by using nitrogen and argon after the first surface treatment.
