The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition, a functional health food, and a feed composition, for innate immune-boosting and antiviral purposes, containing a Benincasae Exocarpium extract as an active ingredient. The present invention further relates to a method for boosting innate immunity and increasing antiviral activities in animals, including a step of injecting the Benincasae Exocarpium extract into animals requiring enhancement of innate immunity, not including human. According to the present invention, the Benincasae Exocarpium composition for innate immune-boosting and antiviral purposes shows effectiveness in boosting innate immunity and antiviral activities, and thus the composition can be used for preventing and treating infectious disease caused by bacteria and virus. In addition, the Benincasae Exocarpium composition can be widely used as drugs or functional health foods for boosting and regulating immunity in a patient with weakened or suppressed immunity, and also as feeds for innate immune-boosting and antiviral purposes for strengthening an anti-disease immune system in animals. Furthermore, the composition for innate immune-boosting and antiviral purposes, according to the present invention, barely causes toxicity or side effects. Thus, the composition can be used with ease even for a long period of time in order to prevent disease. |
