The present invention relates to an antiviral pharmaceutical composition comprising Melandrii herba extract as an active component; an antiviral functional health food comprising Melandrii herba extract; an antiviral feed composition comprising Melandrii herba extract; and a method for enhancing antiviral activity, wherein the method comprises administering Melandrii herba extract to animals, excluding humans, in need of improvement to the innate immune system. The antiviral Melandrii herba extract according to the present invention shows an antiviral activity and the effect of enhancing the innate immune system, and therefore can be used for preventing or treating bacterial and viral infectious diseases; can also be used in drugs and functional health foods for enhancing or regulating the immune strength in patients whose immune system is lowered or suppressed; and furthermore, can be used in an antiviral feed to strengthen disease resistance in animals. Also, the antiviral composition according to the present invention has negligible toxicity and rarely causes side effects, and is thus safe for long-term use for preventative purposes.
