The purpose of the present invention is to provide a nonwoven fabric in which a rigid natural fiber such as a bamboo fiber is usable and which is eco-friendly and yet can sustain sufficient bending strength and sufficient bending rigidity even though the basis weight of the fiber is reduced for weight saving, and a method for manufacturing the nonwoven fabric. The nonwoven fabric, which is obtained through a step for mixing and intertwining a natural plant fiber with a thermoplastic resin fiber and a heat press step, is characterized in that a water-soluble polymer capable of adhering to the natural plant fiber is carried on the natural plant fiber, intertwined sections of the fibers stick together with the water-soluble polymer, and a needle-punch treatment has been conducted. |
