PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a neutron absorbing material that prevents generation of a crack during molding and working, and is suitable for a storage of a nuclear fuel and a transportation thereof, and to provide a manufacturing method of the neutron absorbing material.SOLUTION: In a manufacturing method of the neutron absorbing material for the storage of the nuclear fuel, the transportation thereof and the like, the manufacturing method of the neutron absorbing material is configured to include the steps of: preparing an original plate that is composed of a core plate with a particle of a neutron absorbing material dispersed in a matrix of aluminum and a shell of the aluminum tightly covering an entire surface of the core plate and is provided with a side edge shell area E composed of only the shell on both side edges; linearly cutting the original plate along a length direction so as to separate a width of the original plate as two half-cut original plates; butt-welding the side edges of the two half-cut original plates together as an integral weld plate 100W; and bending the weld plate 100W in a width direction parallel with a weld line W in the side edge shell area E including the weld line W of the butt weld. The neutron absorbing material is provided that is manufactured by the manufacturing method. |
