A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in connection with controlling a flow of data in a user equipment (UE). In one example, a communications device is equipped to monitor at least one parameter related to processing of data at the UE, detect that the at least one parameter has passed a threshold, and autonomously trigger a discontinuous reception (DRX) mode of operation for the UE. In an aspect, the at least one parameter may include, but is not limited to, a data rate, Central Processing Unit (CPU) utilization, memory utilization, component temperature, etc. within the UE. |
