Provided are a quantum-dot layer having high absorbance and capable of enhancing power generation efficiency, and a solar cell. A photoelectric conversion layer 1 includes a quantum-dot-containing layer 5, the quantum-dot-containing layer 5 having a plurality of quantum dots 3 and wall sections 4 enclosing the quantum dots 3. In the cross section in the thickness direction of the quantum-dot-containing layer 5, three quantum dots 3, 3a aligned on a surface 7 of the quantum-dot-containing layer 5 so as to be adjacent to each other in the plane direction are extracted to draw straight line L so as to connect the surface 7 side ends of the two quantum dots 3 located on both sides, the quantum dot 3a located in the middle protrudes from the straight line to the surface 7 side by an amount equal to at least half the diameter of the quantum dot 3a located in the middle. This makes it possible to obtain the photoelectric conversion layer 1 that has high absorbance in an optical sensing layer 17 and has high power generation efficiency and a photoelectric conversion device including the same. |
