To provide a flame-retardant resin composition which is excellent in extrusion moldability, mechanical characteristics, flame retardancy and the like, and imparts slipperiness to a molded product surface, and ensures that a cable surface has reduced friction, and wire insertability to a conduit is satisfactory when the flame-retardant resin composition is used in an optical cable, and an optical cable including the resin composition. The flame-retardant resin composition of the present invention contains as a resin component a specific amount of at least one of polyethylene and an ethylene-± olefin copolymer each having a density in a predetermined range; and a specific amount of a polyolefin resin modified with an unsaturated carboxylic acid, contains a specific amount of magnesium hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide in combination as a flame retardant, and further a specific amount of a silicone-based lubricant with respect to the resin component, is excellent in extrusion moldability, mechanical characteristics, flame retardancy and the like, and ensures that wire insertability to a conduit is satisfactory when the flame-retardant resin composition is used in an optical cable. |
