The washing machine (10) has a radio frequency identification (RFID) reader which is arranged at the outer side (12) of machine main housing. An electromagnet is provided for releasable support of RFID transponder token at the attachment location which is set in the detection area of the reader and proximity to a program selection switch (14). The information printed in the token is read by the reader, so that the washing program is selected by control action at program selection switch based on the read result. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) method for operation of washing machine; and (2) use of token for selecting washing program for washing laundry article by washing machine. |
