PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline electrolyte the humidity dependency of which is small compared to conventional one, and to provide a fuel cell (ACF) including the electrolyte.SOLUTION: An alkaline electrolyte 20 applicable suitably to a direct fuel cell, or the like, is provided. The alkaline electrolyte 20 is composed of a composition forming a layer double hydroxide, and the composition contains a bivalent cation, a trivalent cation, an anion containing at least a hydroxide ion, and an organic compound 23 which can be a dipolar ion. Since the alkaline electrolyte can form a rigid ion conduction path (passage) compared to conventional one, the humidity dependency is small, and can exhibit high ion conductivity even under low humidity conditions. |
