PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drug pieces counting apparatus and method capable of accurately counting at a low cost the number of drug pieces to be packeted in a packeting material.SOLUTION: The drug pieces counting apparatus captures continuously in time an image of drug pieces dispensed for one packet of a packeting material, using an image capturing unit disposed at a position at which images of the packeting material can be captured. A drug area indicating the drug pieces is detected from plural images obtained by capturing the image of one packet of drug pieces continuously in time by the image capturing unit. The detected drug areas are associated among the plural images to determine a trajectory of the drug pieces on the plural images. The drug pieces to be packeted in the packing material are counted on the basis of the positional relationship between the determined trajectory and the packeting material. |
