The present invention relates to a composition for improving skin conditions, comprising syringic acid as an active ingredient. The composition for alleviating skin aging or skin inflammation, comprising syringic acid or salt thereof as an active ingredient promotes collagen synthesis, inhibits the collagenase activities induced by ultraviolet rays or pollutants, and has excellent effects in inhibiting the generation of MAD and the activation of COX-2, thereby being efficiently used as a composition for alleviating, preventing, or treating skin aging or skin inflammation. In addition, the syringic acid or the salt thereof as a chemical substance derived from plants has almost no side effects, thereby being applied to a cosmetic material or a pharmaceutical composition in a safe manner. |
