PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an automatic gear change while dispensing with a clutch, in a transmission for a vehicle which has an engagement part in which a plurality of driven gears are selectively engaged with locking parts which are possessed by the driven gears, and in which a plurality of gear change regions for making a plurality of the locking parts selectively engaged with each other, and a neutral region which is set between the gear change regions are set in an axial moving range of a slide shaft which is inserted into a counter shaft so as to be relatively non-rotatable and axially movable.SOLUTION: At an automatic gear change, an operation of a gear change power source is started so that a shift spindle is turned from a reference position and a load of a drive source is cut, a rotation number of the drive source is controlled to a target rotation number, and after that, the shift spindle is returned to the reference position while leaving the slide shaft held in a neutral region. When the rotation number of the drive source reaches the target rotation number in a state that the shift spindle is returned to the reference position, the slide shaft is moved to a switching-objective gear change region side. |
