PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling device that is improved in cooling performance and energy efficiency, that is, can obtain an effective fan flow rate with less power, and to provide a method of controlling the cooling device, in a vehicle cooling device 1 and a method of controlling the vehicle cooling device.SOLUTION: A vehicle cooling device 1 includes: a radiator 2; a fan 3 arranged on the back surface or front surface of the radiator 2; and a cylindrical shroud 4 extended toward the fan 3 from an outer extension part of the radiator 2. The vehicle cooling device 1 includes a driving mechanism 5 which extends and contracts the shroud 4 in an axis 10 direction of the fan 3, and the driving mechanism 5 is configured to extend and contract the shroud 4 and change a covering amount dx as such a length that the outer circumferential part of the fan 3 and the shroud 4 overlap each other in the axis 10 direction of the fan 3. |
