The present invention relates to a system and a method for radio frequency (RF) beam forming, and more particularly to a system and a method for high-speed analog beam forming. According to an embodiment of the present invention, an RF front end system comprises a first chip which comprises a frequency multiplier configured to be coupled to a first input terminal. The frequency multiplier is also configured to form an up-scaled reference signal by performing frequency up-scaling on an oscillating reference signal received via the first input terminal. The first chip also comprises a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) configured to provide a first oscillating VCO signal, and an oscillator switch configured to be coupled to the VCO and the frequency multiplier. The oscillator switch is also configured to select a local oscillator (LO) signal from the first oscillating VCO signal and the up-scaled reference signal. The first chip also comprises a first phase shifter configured to be coupled to an output of the oscillator switch, and a modulator configured to have an input coupled to an output of the first phase shifter. |
