Information of an inner layer according to a depth from a surface of a scatterer is obtained in high resolution. An image pickup device includes a lighting unit, a camera, and a processing device. The lighting unit irradiates the scatterer with a light in a fixed polarizing direction. The camera photographs the scatterer in a plurality of different polarizing angles. The processing device generates an inner layer image according to the depth from the surface of the scatterer of the inner layer inside the scatter based on the image of the scatterer photographed at a plurality of the different polarizing angles.
