A document checking device includes: a generation unit configured to generate, for each of character strings, a list including feature elements in the corresponding one of the character strings; a dividing unit configured to divide, based on a hash value calculated from at least one of feature elements included in the list, the list into blocks each including one or more feature elements; a calculation unit configured to obtain a hash value for each of the blocks; and a comparison unit configured to compare the hash values obtained by the calculation unit between the character strings. |
