PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for blast furnace abnormality detection which can detect appropriately an abnormality in the tuyere part, e.g. springing out of slag.SOLUTION: A method of detecting a blast furnace abnormality comprises arranging a camera 11 in the vicinity of the tuyere 2 of a blast furnace 1 to image a raceway part through an in-furnace monitor window 6 provided in the tuyere 2, extracting boundaries (edge) between bright parts and dark parts of the image imaged by the camera 11 and detecting a change amount (lowermost edge position change amount &Dgr;Pbtm) per specified time at the most-edge position (lowermost edge position Pbtm) of the edge. When the lowermost edge position change amount &Dgr;Pbtm is equal to or greater than a criterion threshold value TH, occurrence of springing out of slag is determined. |
