PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and quickly identify the speed and process of grow of a cumulonimbus without interfering with the performance of a meteorological radar, regarding a weather prediction support apparatus capable of supporting the monitoring and prediction of the grow of the cumulonimbus and enabling combination with the meteorological radar.SOLUTION: A weather prediction support apparatus includes: temperature measurement means of measuring a temperature T on the surface of a cumulonimbus according to an altitude in a region of infrared radiation; and grow monitoring means of acquiring a change rate &Dgr;T with respect to the altitude at the temperature T, and performing evaluation or prediction of the speed and process of the grow of the cumulonimbus and the whole or a part of precipitation caused by the cumulonimbus, as distribution with respect to the altitude of the change rate &Dgr;T. |
