PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method of a molten metal surface in a mold that can stabilize a molten metal surface level by making a variation in molten metal surface level smaller than before, even when nozzle clogging occurs.SOLUTION: A control method of a molten metal surface level in a mold in a continuous casting facility is provided for controlling the amount of molten steel injected to a mold 5 with a stopper opening of a nozzle 2. The injection rate of molten steel is determined as a function of a stopper opening X, and a theoretical value of a molten metal surface level in the mold is calculated from a difference between the injection rate and the pull-out rate of the molten steel. The calculated theoretical value of the molten metal surface level in the mold is compared with a measured value of the molten metal surface level detected with a level sensor to calculate deviation, and flow characteristics of the nozzle are determined from this deviation. By using the flow characteristics, the stopper opening is controlled so that the calculated theoretical value of the molten metal surface level in the mold becomes a target level. |
