The present invention relates to an image processing apparatus for performing correction adapted to eliminate an object from a face image, i.e., an image including a face of a person. The image processing apparatus comprises: an image acquisition means which acquires a face image; a representative pixel value determination means which determines a representative pixel value representative of a skin region based on pixels included in the face image; a region generation means which generates a first region including an object; a correction pixel determination means which determines correction pixels, i.e., one or more pixels used for correction, among a plurality of pixels adjacent to the first region based on similarity to the representative pixel value; a partial-image generation means which generates a partial image, i.e., a set of pixels for replacement of pixels corresponding to the object, by using the correction pixels; and a correction means which performs the correction by combining the partial image with the face image. |
