Disclosed are an operation method for maintenance in a Multi-Protocol Label Switching-Transport Profile (MPLS-TP) network and an apparatus for performing the operation method. A method for operating a target endpoint according to an aspect of the present invention may comprise the steps of: switching over to a protection path in response to absence of detection of a first connection check message transmitted by a source endpoint via a working path; and setting at least one intermediate point as a temporary endpoint. The at least one intermediate point may transmit a second connection check message, including at least one of location information of a faulty link and a bandwidth occupation release message related to the faulty link, to a target endpoint after having been set as the temporary endpoint.
