Provided are a method and an apparatus for registering a device based on position recognition. The method for registering a device includes: obtaining sensor data obtained by a sensor after operating a plurality of devices to be registered, which are located in a predetermined space; operating and not operating an actuator existing in a specific area repeatedly while the space is divided into several parts; determining devices to be registered located in the specific area based on variation in sensor data obtained from all the devices to be registered; and storing and registering the determined devices to be registered corresponding to the location of the specific area.
