In the present invention, there is disclosed a plasma-electric power generation system comprising a fusion reactor (410) having a first magnetic field generator (425) for creating an azimuthally symmetric magnetic field within a central region of the reactor (410) with a flux (480) substantially parallel to the principle axis of the reactor, and further comprising an inverse cyclotron converter (420) coupled to a first end of the fusion reactor (410). The inverse cyclotron converter (420) comprises a plurality of semi-cylindrical electrodes (494) forming a cylindrical surface wherein the plurality of electrodes (494) comprises more than three electrodes in spaced relation forming a gap between adjacent electrodes to create axially extending gaps (497) between adjacent electrodes. The plurality of electrodes (494) generate n electric field having multiple field structure with three or more fields, and the system further comprising a second magnetic field generator (488) for creating an azimuthally symmetric magnetic field within the space defined by three or more electrodes with a flux (496) substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of three or more electrodes. An electron collector (490) is interposed between the first and second magnetic field generators and adjacent a first end of the three or more electrodes, and an ion collector is positioned adjacent a second end of three or more electrodes. |
