556,082. Liquid raising apparatus. CLAPHAM, T. A., and BARWICK, J. C. March 16, 1942, No. 3430. [Class 102 (ii)] [Also in Group XII] In a gas scrubber containing a filling such as balls, rings, or bristles through which the gas is passed, and over which liquid is delivered, a tube or vessel 16 extends downwardly from the base of the scrubbing chamber 13, and the liquid is forced up a pipe 10 to sprayers 12 at the top of each chamber by a gas lift provided by compressed gas supplied through a pipe 19 and directed by a nozzle 21 into the lower end of the pipe 10. The tube 16 is connected by a T-tube 17 to the base of the vessel 13, and is removable for the purpose of cleaning the jet which may project into a venturi 22, the couplings 23, 26 and cover plate 9 being disconnected. In a modification, the compressed gas pipe may extend through the liquid delivery pipe and may be provided with openings near its lower ends.
