A system (1) and method for deterring mobile phone usage when driving a vehicle made up of an antenna (2) for detecting a mobile phone signal at a driver’s seat (9) and an amplifier (3) in communication with the antenna (2) to detect variations in the mobile phone signal indicative of use of a mobile phone (10) by a driver (11), the amplifier (3) being in turn in communication with a switching module (4) adapted to activate an audible alarm (5) to deter the driver (11) from using the mobile phone (10) and the vehicle hazard warning lights (6) to warn other road users/traffic police that the driver (11) is using the mobile phone (10). <Figure 3> |
