PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead-acid battery capable of suppressing stratification by more efficiently utilizing an agitation action of an electrolyte by gas which is generated when charged.SOLUTION: A lead-acid battery comprises: an electrode plate group including positive electrode plates and negative electrode plates laminated alternately via separators; an electrolyte which is flowable; and a battery case for housing the electrode plate group and the electrolyte. An appearance shape of the electrode plate group substantially has a rectangular parallelepiped shape. Among side surfaces of the electrode plate group, at least one of those which are perpendicular to the electrode plate planes is covered with a partition member which is liquid-tight and air-tight. Between at least one surface selected from the group consisting of the partition-member-covered surface and two surfaces parallel to the electrode plate planes, among the side surfaces of the electrode plate group, and an inner surface of the battery case, facing to the selected surface, a gap having a width of 6 mm or more is formed. Between the other surface, perpendicular to the electrode plate planes, which is not covered with the partition member and an inner surface of the battery case, facing thereto, a gap having a width of 3 mm or less is formed. Between a bottom surface of the electrode plate group and an inner bottom surface of the battery case, a gap having a width of 5 mm or more is formed. |
