The present invention relates to a process for preparing fatty acid alkyl esters by esterification of oils and tats with methanol or ethanol under combination of a discontinuous esterification in batch reactors with a continuous purification process, wherein the preparation process is characterized by perfect agitation using high-speed eccentrically situated agitators and by instantaneous stripping of esterifying alcohol residues. The highly effective agitation makes it possible to achieve qualitative parameters according biodiesel standards, but during esterification in one stage only. The instantaneous stripping of the esterifying alcohol residues enhances significantly separation of glycerin phase from the alkyl ester layer.
