The present invention relates to an image processing apparatus and an image processing method, which can more naturally correct a color of a lip included in an image. The image processing apparatus comprises: an image acquisition means which acquires a face image including a face of a person; a lip extraction means which extracts a lip region, corresponding to a lip, from the face image; a representative color determination means which determines a representative color of the lip based on pixels included in the lip region; a value acquisition unit which acquires a first value indicative of proximity to the lip region and a second value correlated to similarity of a color to the representative color for each pixel included in the face image; a lip correction map generation means which generates, based on distributions of the first and second values, a lip correction map indicative of a distribution of weights for correction of a color of the lip included in the face image; and an image correction means which corrects the color of the lip by using the lip correction map. |
