PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for base tread, capable of improving a low fuel consumption property, puncture resistance and processability well-balancedly, and to provide a pneumatic tire using the composition.SOLUTION: There is provided a rubber composition for base tread, which contains 5 mass% or more of a conjugated diene-based polymer obtained by reacting an alkoxysilane compound with one end of a copolymer which contains a rubber component and silica, and has a monomer unit based on a conjugated diene, and the respective monomer units based on the compounds represented by formulas (1) and (2) and contains 5-150 pts.mass of silica based on 100 pts.mass of the rubber component. In the formula, Vand Vare each a hydrocarbyl group having a carbon-carbon double bond, S1 is a substituted silyl group, and A2 is a substituted amino group or a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic group. |
