PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary chamber type gas engine and an operation control method thereof capable of improving a flame propagation combustion efficiency and low emission even in a lean mixture.SOLUTION: In the auxiliary chamber type gas engine, a laser spark plug is provided in an auxiliary chamber. In the compression stroke, a lean premixed mixture in a main combustion chamber is allowed to flow into the auxiliary chamber via an injection hole. At this time, an excess air factor λ', of an air-fuel mixture in the auxiliary chamber and the main combustion chamber is to be 2.0 which is equal to or less than a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio. The volume of the auxiliary chamber is to be 12 cc which is calculated based on the excess air factor λ'(2.0). The lean mixture is thereby fired with the laser spark plug, allowing smooth torch combustion and flame propagation combustion to be performed into a stable combustion. |
