A method for color correction in an alpha matting process for an image and an apparatus (20) configured to perform the method are described. The apparatus (20) comprises a parameter retrieving unit (23) that retrieves (10) an initial image representing unmixed colors, e.g. from a color estimator (24) or by resorting to a previously generated initial image.
